The highly anticipated Warner TV, a television channel showcasing movies and series from the Warner Bros. Discovery portfolio, is set to make its debut on the Czech market with Atmedia sales house serving as its representative as of 2nd April. Commencing on the same date, Warner TV will also enter the official television audience measurement, allowing Atmedia to market its advertising inventory using the official television currency, GRP. This introduction of the new TV channel will complement Atmedia’s existing portfolio of 24 measured thematic television channels, further enhancing Atmedia’s offerings within their sales packages such as atmax, atadults, or atchoice.
‘Our partnership with the Warner Bros. Discovery television group dates back to 2020, when we commenced representing their thematic Pay-TV channels, Discovery Channel, Eurosport 1, and TLC, on the Czech market. With the addition of Warner TV to our portfolio, we are elevating our collaboration to unprecedented heights, further strengthening our alliance,’ asserts Michaela Suráková, Atmedia’s Managing Director. She does emphasise a unique aspect of the new TV channel within the Warner Bros. Discovery group – unlike its counterparts, viewers will have the option to watch it at no cost via digital terrestrial broadcasting. Specifically, it will be accessible through the nationwide multiplex 23 operated by České Radiokomunikace. ‘Warner TV stands poised to engage a broad spectrum of television viewers, and not just for this reason alone. I am confident that the enticing lineup scheduled for its launch in early April will particularly resonate with younger viewers. Nonetheless, Warner TV’s diverse content promises enjoyment for viewers of all ages,’ says Michaela Suráková holding a firm belief in the potential success of the TV channel.
Warner TV Becomes the 25th Thematic Television Channel in Atmedia’s Portfolio
Warner TV joins Atmedia’s portfolio as the sixth Free-to-Air and ninth movie TV channel among Atmedia’s 24 measured thematic television channels on the Czech market. Last year, these channels collectively garnered a 5,9% audience share among viewers aged 18–69, with an average monthly reach of 5,4 million viewers aged 4+, constituting 58% of the total television audience. Viewers who tuned in to any of Atmedia’s thematic television channels spent an average of 1 hour and 13 minutes per day in front of its screen.[1] ‘Having approached the 6% audience share threshold last year, we’re confident that the addition of the new Warner TV channel this year will propel us towards achieving the 7% mark,’ states Michaela Suráková, underscoring that the company’s long-term objective does not only include increasing audience share but also expanding and developing thematic television channel portfolio on the Czech market.
Atmedia does represent a diverse range of TV channels on the Czech market, including thematic channels from Warner Bros. Discovery Group (Discovery Channel, Eurosport 1, TLC, and the newly added Warner TV), as well as channels from AMC Networks (AMC, Film+, Minimax, Spektrum, Spektrum Home, Sport 2, and TV Paprika), CANAL+ (CANAL+ Action, FilmBox, FilmBox Stars), Walt Disney Company (Disney Channel, National Geographic), and Antenna Group (AXN). Additionally, Atmedia also represents Czech TV channels Rebel and Relax, along with channels from the Československá filmová společnost group (CS Film, CS History, CS Mystery) and Televize Seznam. A significant position in Atmedia’s portfolio is also held by the Slovak TV group JOJ (JOJ Cinema, JOJ Family).
Movies and Series From Warner Bros. Production
The upcoming Warner TV channel is set to provide Czech television viewers with an array of titles from Warner Bros. production, spanning popular series and movies across various genres. ‘Starting in April, Czech viewers will be able to enjoy a wide range of content, including movies and series, on Warner TV, represented from all our portfolio brands in our market. We are close to launching our first free-to-air channel in the market and will bring a large library of content, from classic films to popular series, to all viewers,’ states Václav Paleček, Distribution and Business Development Director at Warner Bros. Discovery Czech Republic & Slovakia
